Scholarships

General

Scholarships are available to applicants with a high academic record, and are awarded to research students only. A scholarship recipient is entitled to 1 - 6 scholarship units per semester and is required to carry out research work on campus. For application forms for a scholarship, please click here.

Scholarship Application Deadlines :

Fall semester: April 30
Spring semester: December 31

Please Note:
A scholarship is awarded for a given academic semester and usually 
Summer support is restricted to advanced students who have started work on their research topic.
Continuing the scholarship for another semester requires submitting a new application before the official scholarship application deadline of the semester as well as meeting the required academic standards.
Scholarship sums are adjusted periodically, taking into account the CPI. Current sums are approximately $200-$300 per scholarship unit per month, according to the research stage and degree track. Most scholarships include a tuition waiver.

Note: Many countries have foundations that provide scholarships for overseas studies. Applicants are encouraged to investigate these possibilities.

The Lady Davis Fellowship Trust

The Trust awards scholarships to graduate students from abroad for studies at the Technion.

The scholarships total about 4000 – 4300 INS per month for MSc students and about 5100- 5600 NIS for PhD students.

In addition each Lady Davis recipient will be awarded 1000 USD for travel expenses from his hometown and back [after completing his/her studies]. Scholarships are paid in Israeli Shekels and are granted for a full academic year, with the possibility of extension. Applicants for this scholarship are required to pass the GRE general test. Applications should be submitted by the Graduate School.

 
Ministry of Absorption-the Center for Science Absorption

To promote the Aliya [immigration] of scientists and engineers to Israel the Center is currently initiating an assistance program for potential new immigrants ("Olim") who are interested in pursuing PhD studies in Israel.

The program aims to help first year PhD students who arrived in Israel during the two years prior to the beginning of their studies. The support for 2004/2005 totals about 61,000 IS, includes a tuition waiver and an additional sum of 5,500 IS for research expenses.

Housing

On Campus

Housing options for graduate students on campus are limited. Written applications have to be submitted by April 30. For application forms for dormitories, please click here.

Off Campus

Rental apartments are available in neighborhoods surrounding the campus. Monthly rent is about $350-$450 for a two-bedroom apartment. Please allow up to three weeks to find housing.

Jewish Agency Dormitories

The Student Authority ('Minhal HaStudentim'), which is jointly managed by the Ministry of Absorption and the Jewish Agency, runs student dormitories in the Haifa Metropolitan Area.
