The Technion Graduate School awards the following degrees:

 

MSc  -  Master of Science- in a given specific field; Master of Science - in Technology; Master of Science  (according to your specific academic background and study curriculum).

ME   -   Master of Engineering in non-research tracks.

MBA -  Master of Science in Business Administration.

PhD-    Doctor of Philosophy.

 

Studies for the Master Degree [brief summary]

 

Enrollment and Admission: Eligible are: holders of an undergraduate degree from an accredited university with a grade average (GPA) of at least 75% (in many departments admission requirements are higher). The GRE (general test) is required of all applicants for an MSc in Electrical Engineering (Technion's code: 0343). Other departments may also require it. The MBA program requires a GMAT with a minimal total score of 550 and 80% in the quantitative part (Technion's code: 0027)

Study Requirements: Holders of a 4 year undergraduate degree are required a general total of 36-48 credit points (CP), of which: 20 CP are dedicated to research in the Research Track, 12 CP to a final thesis in the Final Thesis Track and all CP to coursework in the Non-Thesis Track. Departments may add coursework for applicants who need supplementary studies.

 

Studies for the Doctoral Degree [brief summary]

 

Enrollment and Admission: Holders of an MSc/MA degree (research track) from an accredited university, a minimal score of 80 on the research work (most departments require a higher score) and a minimum 80 GPA [higher in most departments]. The GRE (general test) is required of all applicants (Technion's code: 0343).

Finding an advisor prior to registration is a prerequisite.

Study Requirements: Course work, candidacy exam, research, giving a lecture seminar, writing and defense of a dissertation. The department may have additional requirements.

Direct Doctoral Track:  MSc students with proven high achievements in coursework as well as in research, may, upon the recommendation of the advisor and the department's graduate committee's recommendation ask to be moved to the doctoral track.

 

Language Requirements:

 

Hebrew

Most Classes are conducted in Hebrew, which is the official Language in Israel.

New Immigrants ("Olim") are required to pass a Hebrew test prior to their admission. A second Hebrew test, of a higher level is required after admission during the course of study. The tests are given three times a year; In June and September (before the fall semester), and in January (before the spring semester). International applicants are encouraged, to study a basic Hebrew course.

 

English

Most textbooks and scientific papers required for graduate studies at the Technion are in English and visiting faculty may teach in English. Therefore, knowledge of English is a prerequisite for admission to the Graduate School.A graduate of a high school or of an accredited academic institute in which the language of instruction is English, as well as an applicant whose grade in the verbal part of the GRE exam or the GMAT exam is in the 75th percentile or higher, or a PhD holder, will be exempt from the English advanced examination..  (For more details please read the "Language Requirements" part in the "Admission Procedures" posted in our site: www.graduate.technion.ac.il

All Ph.D. students are required to take an "Academic English writing" course.

 

Scholarships:

 

Scholarships are available for MSc and PhD students with a high academic record. The Scholarship at the Technion is given in portion, (1-6), with different amount for MSc and PhD students. In 2012-13 they ranged from $240-$300 per portion. Scholarships carry a full or a partial tuition waiver and are awarded for a period of 24 months for MSc students and 42-48 months (depending on the field) for PhD students. Scholarships are available only for thesis track students.

 

The "Student Authority" helps students who wish to make Aliya to Israel (contact the Jewish Agency representative in your home country).

 

Housing:

 

On Campus: dormitories for singles, married couples without children and families are given on availability basis. Eligibility is conditioned on  academic achievements.

Off Campus: rental apartments are available in neighborhoods surrounding the campus for about $500-$700 for a two-bedroom apartment.

 

Deadlines for Registration are:

For the Fall Semester: from February 1st to April 1st                    For the Spring Semester: from October 1st to November 1st

PhD applicants can register all year long.
