Abstract

Projects are mostly implemented on all levels of the organization as a means for achieving the strategic goals of the organization and as a means for responding to the requests and demands, which may not be answered via the routine operation of the organization. In times of increasing competition, the success of project management becomes a critical component in the organization's success, and yet, many projects suffer delays, budget deficits and even failures. Managing knowledge is a critical issue in project success, and yet research in the field of project management is lacking with regard to the paradigm of knowledge management.
This research pertains mainly to implicit knowledge which is formed and stored by individuals in the organization. Differently from the development of objective knowledge, implicit knowledge is always formed at the individual level via personal experience, and becomes organizational knowledge as a result of the interaction between individuals. The contribution of this research, to the research of organizations and the profession of project management, is in its exemplifying that an organizational process of knowledge management, which is not highly mentioned in project management literature and practicum, has a substantial effect on the success of project management, and that risk management carries a significant importance in the mediation of this effect. The conclusions of this research have important repercussions on planning strategy and policy in organizations, and they come to expand the theoretical and empirical concept of knowledge management and its influence on organizational performance.
